THAI YOGA MASSAGE
Thai yoga massage is a traditional modality based on Ayurveda and yoga that has been practiced in Thailand for centuries and has been passed down through an unbroken chain of masters for 2200 years.
This unique and ancient style of bodywork utilizes a series of sen line (energy line) thumb pressing; palm pressing; joint mobilization; stretching; yoga stretches; and mindful breathing, all rooted in compassion and the Buddhist concept of Metta (loving-kindness). It is sometimes described as "having yoga done to you."
This massage is different from other forms of massage in that there is no oil used, that the practitioner uses a mattress on the floor (instead of a table), and that you remain completely clothed throughout the session. It is both relaxing and rejuvenating. This unique form of bodywork is like a yoga class, a massage, and an energizing experience all in one.
Thai Yoga Massage has many of the same benefits as yoga. It stretches and tones the muscles, improves circulation, relieves muscle tension, helps to regulate metabolism, boosts the immune system, balances the body energetically, and increases mental focus. The Thai yoga massage technique uses point pressure and muscle stretching and compression in rhythmic, gentle rocking movements rather than the kneading and continuous strokes of Western massage. Using palms, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet in repetitive and flowing movements, the massage practitioner facilitates in the massage recipient an effective release of muscular and emotional tension and promotes deep relaxation.
